Kicking off her holiday weekend with a bang, WWE superstar Cameron was arrested on suspicion of DUI this past Friday in Tampa Bay. TMZ reports that Cameron, who is a member of the Funkadactyls that accompany wrestler Brodus Clay in the ring, was picked up at 2:23 A.M. on Friday morning near Tampa International Airport. Cameron, who initially refused a breathalyzer test, was found to have a BAC of .20 (more than twice the legal limit of .08).
Exacerbating these allegations, Cameron (née Ariane Nicole Andrew) allegedly attempted to bribe police officers into not filing charges by offering them $10,000, claiming “she would lose her job” if charged with DUI. She was released on $500 bond.
A representative for her employer (the WWE) issued a statement noting “Ariane [Cameron] did not alert us to this matter, we are investigating and will take appropriate action.” There are conflicting reports regarding whether or not she has been suspended from the WWE.
While much media attention is devoted when celebrities are caught breaking the law, the fact is that many people are picked up for DUI every day without all this fanfare and public scrutiny. Cameron’s troubles with her employer are not uncommon, and a DUI conviction can be seriously detrimental to anyone’s employment and personal relationships.
